Poetry Minisode - "No Place like Home" | Sam Horton

In this mini-episode of Soul Led Creative Women, Sam Horton reads an original poem taken from a personal reflective creative moment of her every day life.

No Place Like Home is about that safe inner space we can return to when the world feels too fast, too loud, or just too much. It was inspired by the idea of a protective bubble I can travel around in, like Glinda the Good Witch’s in The Wizard of Oz (ok, I have recently watched Wicked 😉). Something soft and strong that carries us gently through the chaos.

The poem explores what it feels like to be rooted in that space, where breath slows, colours soothe, and we can hear ourselves again. It’s not about escaping life, but about finding a way to come home to ourselves within it.

At the heart of this poem is a feeling of remembering. Remembering who we are beneath the noise, and what helps us feel safe, grounded, and whole. It’s a gentle nudge that we don’t have to go looking outside for peace or clarity. We already have a kind of sanctuary inside us, a place we can return to any time we need to reconnect. Because truly… there’s no place like home.

No Place Like Home

There’s a softness I return to
when the world begins to blur,
a peace within the madness,
that invites my soul to stir.

A bubble I've created,
with the shimmer of my truth,
filled with glorious wildflowers,
blooming since my youth.

I wrap myself in floral colour,
not like camouflage or cover,
but like a luscious velvet fur coat,
like soul symbols that hover.

Outside, the world can race,
battle blind and gnaw at grace,

Inside, the air is greenhouse warm,
not hot but humid, a cosy balm.

This sacred space is not escape,
but my soul’s return to its true shape.

My body’s ache for what it had known,
the quiet knowing: there’s no place like home.
